Talk of the postmodern masterpiece that is Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s “Sorry about our dogs, Barnaby” apology video seems to have made its way to the U.S, with Stephen Colbert lampooning it during his Late Show monologue last night.

Colbert explains how us “Aw-sies” demanded an apology from Depp and Heard, then admits that: “This video truly touched me and it made me realise that I too owe Australia a very big apology”. The best thing about this video is imagining that it was filmed on a whim in Colbert’s office, with a series of necklaces and pirate earrings borrowed from the local Urban Outfitters. Daaaad.

Ah, isn’t it exciting when Australia takes the world stage, our “blooming onions” and “magical upside down land” of “exiled British degenerates” finally getting the attention it deserves. Stephen Colbert wearing a captain’s hat and playing ‘Land Down Under’ on the didgeridoo will stay with me for a long time.
