Enjoy Stephen Colbert Torching An Anti-Vax Actor Who Tried Suing The ABC Over Vaccine Mandates
"Sorry, buddy, but you have to follow the medical advice - you're on 'General Hospital', not General Stuff I Read On Facebook."
Stephen Colbert, CEO of calling people out on their shit when necessary, has slammed an anti-vax Australian soap star who tried to sue the ABC because he didn’t want to get vaccinated.
If you’ve ever watched General Hospital (unlikely) then you’ve probably heard of Ingo Rademacher (even less unlikely). But for those who haven’t AKA around 90 percent of all Australians, Rademacher played the character Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks, son of John Jacks and Jane Jacks (lol), on-and-off for a whopping 25 years.
Rademacher also had a short stint on popular soap The Bold and the Beautiful, which is probably one that you do know.
But really, none of that actually matters because the ABC in the US decided to fire the Aussie soap star from General Hospital after he shared a number of anti-vax and transphobic remarks online.
If you need a quick run down, in August the actor spoke out against COVID vaccine mandates on his Instagram sharing that “getting vaccinated does not stop you from spreading the virus”.
“That’s straight from the CDC,” he said. “Mandating any vaccine is wrong but especially one that doesn’t help stop the spread, that’s nothing short of crazy talk.”
Then on November 8, Rademacher reiterated his anti-vax stance sharing a post that read “I will stand with you to fight for medical freedom” adding hashtags like #nomandates, #woke, #awakening, and #coersionisnotconsent.
But if all his anti-vax rubbish wasn’t bad enough, Rademacher then reposted a tweet to his Instagram that called Dr Rachel Levine, a transgender woman who is the US assistant secretary for health, a “dude”.
“Hello, and welcome to ClownTown, where the dude on the left is an empowering woman, and the woman on the right is a white supremacist,” the tweet read, which was originally created by a conservative commentator read.
As expected, Rademacher was fired for both his transphobic comments and decision to not comply with the vaccine mandates in place at the ABC Network, which is owned by Disney.
But instead of just copping the consequences of his actions on the chin, the actor decided to sue ABC last week because they rejected his application for religious exemption to avoid the COVID vaccine.
“I am entitled to a religious exemption against mandatory vaccination for COVID-19 on the basis of my deeply and sincerely held moral belief that my body is endowed by my creator with natural processes to protect me and that its natural integrity cannot ethically be violated by the administration of artificially created copies of genetic material, foreign to nature and experimental,” Rademacher wrote to Disney’s HR on October 11.
Of course, Rademacher’s attempt at using religion to get out of the vaccination requirements of the network was rejected, which the actor claimed “violated his right to privacy”.
“This should not be a political issue,” the lawsuit states. “There is no need for everybody to get the COVID-19 shot, even if the president demands it.”
So, clearly still not getting it, voice of reason Stephen Colbert had to step in and roast the General Hospital actor so that Rademacher could hear how truly silly he sounded in suing the ABC because he didn’t want to comply with vaccine mandates.
“Sorry, buddy, but you have to follow the medical advice — you’re on General Hospital, not General Stuff I Read On Facebook,” Colbert started his roast on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
After calling Rademacher a “random collection of constants” and an “above-ground pool salesman who hits on your wife”, Colbert then explained to his audience who exactly the actor was for those who didn’t know.
“If you’re unfamiliar with Ingo’s work, congrats you have a day job!” Colbert quipped before poking fun at the general ridiculousness of soap storylines.
“A lot of people are saying that Ingo Rademacher is being ridiculous, unless… that’s not Ingo Rademacher! It’s Ingo Rademacher’s twin brother, Vigo Rademacher, who just woke up from a coma… after being pushed down a flight of stairs by… the wealthy heiress, Lady Zanzibar….”
“Or maybe, just maybe, in one final twist, none of that is true and Ingo Rademacher is in reality just a… stupid dingus!”
Personally I can’t wait to see Stephen Colbert’s pivot to soap star — maybe he’ll even get to replace Ingo Rademacher’s Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks on General Hospital, too.
