Kiss Your Childhood Goodbye With These Horrifying “Realistic” Spongebob Pics
Why does this exist.
SpongeBob SquarePants has always existed somewhere in the uncanny valley (and yes wiseguy, I know it’s actually set in Bikini Bottom).
Even since its overtly stoner-ish beginnings, the show would frequently incorporate both live-action jokes and grotesque, human-like animations. Such was its strange, oddly comforting charm.
Having said that, SpongeBob SquarePants has never, ever subjected children to anything like 3D character artist Miguel Vasquez’s deeply upsetting take on the characters, portrayed below as if they were, through some kind of demonic pact, brought to our reality:

Which is worse? The overeager, not-quite-human SpongeBob, who is just dying to play with you?
Or Patrick, who could technically count as a person now but will absolutely murder anyone who, even for a second, dares draw SpongeBob’s attention away from him?

Don’t play with this SpongeBob SquarePants, is what I’m trying to get at here. I hate him.
Uploaded a week ago and shared by Twitter user Max Goof on Wednesday, Vasquez’s characters have quite rightfully been met with hatred, fear and yes, even some kind of gruesome fascination.

Vasquez creations follow a number of previous attempts to bring these wicked beings to life, although none of them get under the skin quite like his.
You can see more of these awful creatures at the artist’s website here, although you really, really shouldn’t.
