Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Has A Delightful Post-Credits Scene

In case you were wondering, you should absolutely hang around after Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse‘s credits start to roll.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales, an Afro-Latino teenager who develops spider-powers after being bitten by a very special arachnid. He is subsequently swept up in superheroics and teams up with various spider-people from different dimensions, including Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy and Spider-Ham, a spider bitten by a radioactive pig.
It’s a delightful film with a striking comic-inspired visual style, a chill soundtrack, and warm, witty humour that makes it a joy to watch. The packed cinema I saw it in was audibly laughing throughout the movie, and the comedy never gets cliche. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse may even be, dare I say, one of the best superhero films this year.
Sony is clearly very aware of the internet culture surrounding Spider-Man, as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse makes subtle references to recognisable moments in Spidey-culture. These include the famous upside-down kiss from the Tobey Maguire films, and a subtle nod to the meme of Spider-Man behind a desk. You don’t need to be familiar with them to enjoy the film, but they add an extra sprinkling of fun to an already fun-packed film.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is also cognisant of the post-credits culture among superhero and animated films, and was sure not to disappoint movie-goers who wait patiently in their seats until the very end. Those who stick around will be treated to a full rendition of one of the songs from Spidey’s novelty Christmas album, followed by a short, lighthearted scene that should thrill anybody who has spent more than five minutes on the internet. We won’t spoil it here, but don’t miss it if you can avoid it — it is definitely worth the wait.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse hits cinemas December 13. You should absolutely go and see it.
