Someone’s Hacked A Federal MP’s Twitter Account And Is Tweeting Pictures Of Lolcats
Federal Member for Melbourne Ports, Shadow Minister for Cats.
Meet federal Labor politician Michael Danby. He’s the one who isn’t dressed in a North Korean military uniform, partly because he is not a member of the North Korean military.

Hello! (Source: Twitter/Michael Danby MP)
Danby’s been the member for the seat of Melbourne Ports since 1998, and currently serves as the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to Opposition Leader Bill Shorten. Danby doesn’t have a huge public profile, only poking his head out in April to defend the pro-Israel lobby after former Foreign Minister Bob Carr said it wields too much influence over foreign policy.
Now he’s seemingly trialling a radically different approach to engaging with the public: tweeting out pictures of lolcats for no reason.
Either that, or some legend has hacked his account. Oh well! Either way.
These have all been screenshotted because I assume they’re going to be taken down soon, and they deserve to be admired by future generations.
I cannot WAIT for the press release that clarifies exactly what happened here. Some poor Labor staffer is sweating over a keyboard right now, torn between the staffer’s duty of minimising damage and the human instinct to acknowledge how great this is.
Okay, that’s enough. We’re done here.
I lied. Now we’re done.
