A few years ago, a couple of ingenious smart-arse bloggers figured out that one caption could be used for pretty much every New Yorker cartoon: Charles Lavoie‘s was “Christ, what an asshole!”; Cory Arcangel‘s, “What a misunderstanding!”– both still, to this day, perfect universal captions for literally any of the publication’s quintessential comics.

Charles Lavoie’s caption knows no boundaries.

But it’s now 2015 and we need a new universal New Yorker cartoon caption which reflects the current times — times which are defined by the internet. A caption that says that we, as a society, are all the internet; the internet is us. There is no escape. There is only internet.

Designer and newly appointed Lord Of Cultural References Frank Chimero has the answer. And it’s flawless.

And boy, is it apt:

And as always, Twitter responded fervently, contributing some beauts to the game:

LinkedIn’s response? “Cool, free branded content, herp de derp.”

*whoosh*

… How many LinkedIn requests do you think Frank’s received now?
