The next season of Sex Education will chug along without a fan favourite, after it was revealed Ola won’t be returning to the hit Netflix show.

Actor Patricia Allison shared on Tuesday that unbeknownst to audiences, Season 3 was the last time we’d see main character Ola Nyman.

“I have absolutely loved being on Sex Education so, so much, and playing Ola, but unfortunately I won’t be joining the team for Season 4,” she said in an interview on UK radio station Capital XTRA’s ‘Breakfast with Yinka and Shayna Marie’.

“I’m just going to be doing some other things — some other opportunities have come up,” she said. “I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’ve genuinely loved it … I have to say goodbye at some time, which is kind of sad. But other things are coming and that’s really exciting.”

Allison played protagonist Otis Milburn’s first girlfriend and later stepsister (after they broke up), who navigates her relationship with alien erotica writer Lily Inglehart in Season 3. The actor is also known for playing Marguerite in TV series Les Misérables, and being in animated show Superworm alongside Doctor Who alumnus Matt Smith.

The fourth season of Sex Education was confirmed during Netflix fan event TUDUM in September last year, but no release date has been announced by the streaming service just yet.
