Praise Kier! Season 2 Of ‘Severance’ Is Finally Upon Us
Anyone else still awake at night because of THAT cliffhanger?
A much-anticipated update for Season 2 of Severance update teases some new famous faces joining Lumon industries.
In case you missed it, the original Apple+ series is one of the best shows of the year. The speculative-dystopian series follows a group of workers who have undergone a controversial process called ‘severance’ in which memories of their work life and personal life are kept separate through the insertion of a chip into their brains.
Created by newcomer Dan Erickson, and directed by Ben Stiller — Severance is a psychological thriller that slowly unravels the technological horror of corporations gaining more and more control of people’s lives. As the characters’ selves are separated into ‘innies’ (their work self) and ‘outies’ (their personal self), the show’s central mystery is whether the two can ever meet — despite living in the same body.
Without wandering into spoiler territory, the first season that aired earlier this year ended on a cliffhanger that still keeps me up at night. According to star Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) as well as Erickson and Stiller, a second season is over a year away.

Back in April, Stiller replied to a fan asking for an update on Season 2, tweeting: “It took us a couple of years to make S1. Hope you can hang in!”. I, for one, am barely hanging in.
However, yesterday, Stiller tweeted a tantalising new update — a behind-the-scenes picture of Adam Scott viewed through a director’s monitor. “Every time you find yourself here, it’s because you chose to come back,” the caption read, “#Severance Season 2 filming has started”.
In a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, new cast members for the second season were also announced. While there is no word on who they will be playing, Season 2 newcomers will include Gwendoline Christie (The Sandman, Game of Thrones), John Noble (Fringe), Alia Shawkat (Search Party, The Old Man), and Emmy winner Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie, Unbelievable).
“We are thrilled and delighted to be back on set for the exciting second chapter of Severance,” Stiller’s statement read. “Though we don’t know how long we’ve been gone or who we are outside, we are told people enjoy the show and we couldn’t be happier. Praise Kier!”
Severance Season 1 is now streaming on Apple TV+.
