Sesame Street’s Les Miserables Is Way Better Than Actual Les Miserables
For fans of musicals, cookies, food puns.
Les Mousserables takes place in the poverty-riddled streets of Paris, where everybody wants cookies, but nobody has them. When Jean Bon-Bon finds a whole bucket full of cookies and refuses to share them with the town folk, a revolution is sparked, forcing him to come to terms with the emotions of other people as well, as with his own character:
“Who me am?” he sings in a melody at once familiar and unfamiliar, in keeping with copyright law. “Am me monster who doesn’t care? Or me monster who want to share?“
Finally, he realises the follies of his ways, sharing the cookies with the wistful Creamette, the jealous Eepinine, the angry revolutionaries — and even the sad whore Flontine.
Enjoy.
