It’s been a whopping 18 years since Scrubs first premiered and forever changed the perception of what it means to be a medical intern. (Seriously, how many people do you reckon ended up becoming doctors because they binge-watched that show?)

Now, the television show that injected the slapstick and the surreal into the sitcom is coming back, and will soon be streaming in full on Stan.

Scrubs, created by Bill Lawrence of Cougar Town and Spin City fame, takes a relatively simple set-up: J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff, before he started screaming at teenagers and making mawkish movies) and Christopher Turk (Donald Faison) are a pair of wide-eyed medical interns who must navigate the complex interpersonal relationships of the fictitious Sacred Heart Hospital.

But the pleasures of the show lie entirely in the way the story is told, not what the story actually is. Filled with daydreams, increasingly complex jokes, and sudden left-turns into the melancholy, Scrubs was a sitcom that never sat still.

Of course, the memory of Scrubs has always been somewhat affected by its strange, messy public final season: most of the key cast and crew were out by the end of the eighth season, and so the show pivoted to a whole new cast of characters (hey, it worked for literally no show in television history!). The new heroes lasted but one season, and those days aren’t remembered very fondly (if they’re remembered at all.)

But hey, the beauty of streaming is that you don’t need to let that oddball finale ruin your memories of the show anymore! Now you can stream seasons one to eight of Scrubs to your heart’s content, living in a glorious, uplifting season nine-free world.

Every episode of Scrubs will be streaming on Stan from Friday February 1 onwards, so there’s your weekend (and much of next week) plans sorted.
