Scott Morrison Is Replying To Memes About His Job-Hoarding Rather Than, You Know, Resigning

If only those businesses knew he has a less-than-impressive CV.

I regret to inform you that Scott Morrison is now attempting to shitpost his way out of bad publicity after it was revealed the former Prime Minister secretly swore himself in to five additional portfolios without the public’s knowledge.

It’s no secret that politicians love a bad meme, and often use this to their political advantage by encouraging hate-engagement, but Morrison’s latest attempt is perhaps the worst we’ve seen to date.

Following an extremely unhinged press conference in which he gave no real answers and dodged questions repeatedly, Morrison has since taken to social media to reply to more than a dozen memes from companies taking the piss out of him.

“It’s been fun joining in on all the memes. But there are so many now I can’t keep up. As Aussies we can always have a chuckle at ourselves,” he wrote on Facebook alongside a picture of him apparently joining the comedy group Sooshi Mango.

Morrison — or whoever had the unfortunate job of running his social media pages on Thursday — replied to a tonne of memes from businesses across the country.

“A great opportunity for me to get the skills ready for Bathurst,” he commented on a post from Southport Budget Tyres and Auto.

He also replied to job offers from a roof tiling company, a concrete company, and a women’s clothing brand. “What time do you need me for my first shift?” he commented on a tree services company’s post.

Perhaps the most cringeworthy was his response to a meme about him becoming the coach of his beloved Cronulla Sharks — replacing Craig Fitzgibbon.

“Don’t mind this one either,” he commented. “But that job is definitely filled and Fitzy is doing an awesome job. UpUpCronulla.”

But while many companies have been quick to offer Morrison jobs, perhaps they should first look at his CV — which is less than impressive, and includes the time he was reportedly fired from Tourism Australia.

Scott Morrison may be quick to poke fun at his questionable behaviour, but Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has asserted it is no “laughing matter.”

“I think this undermining of our parliamentary system of government, of the whole Westminster system, and our democratic traditions of accountability, are things that aren’t a laughing matter,” he told the ABC on Friday.

“I’m surprised at the response of Mr Morrison to this but, then again, I frankly was shocked by the revelations that he not only was Prime Minister, but took over responsibility or shared responsibility for five different portfolios as well.”
