Scientists Release New Footage Of The Anglerfish From The Bottom Of The Sea, Your Nightmares
Screw the ocean. Screw the ocean so much.
YouTube is a great place; you can see videos of people falling off treadmills, the ‘Apparently’ kid, and “documentaries” about scary sea creatures, like this one.
This week, though, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute released footage of the elusive anglerfish, aka the “sea devil” — aka the fish from Finding Nemo that tries to eat Dory at the bottom of the ocean.

It has a face homely enough to stop a clock, and less than half a dozen have ever been captured on film or video.
As the narrator points out, the anglerfish is not a species made for speed. Watching it, one is reminded of the majestic scene from The Simpsons where Homer eats chips in space, waiting with mouth wide open while his prey unknowingly floats into his trap.
