Salsa, Sparks And Socks: Getting ‘Undressed’ With Ellaina And KC

Is this the most adorable couple of the series?

Brought to you by SBS

Undressed puts two strangers in a room, asks them to undress each other and then poses challenging, intimate questions to discover if they’re a match.

One of the sweetest, cutest couplings on Undressed is KC and Ellaina. KC is a 26-year-old student and restaurant manager from Sydney, who moved to Australia from Nepal just over a year ago. Ellaina is a 24-year-old psychology student, also from Sydney, who works as a sleep technician.

In their undies they dance a charming little salsa, chat about gender equality, cultural acceptance and the importance of environmental conservation. They also speak profoundly on the linguistic contradiction of the word ‘love’ as it relates to the metaphysical actuality (in other words, how we use the word ‘love’ for so many things but real love is so much more special than that. Sorry, I’m a writer, okay?).

They share a very awkward and therefore monumentally adorable one-minute hug and then finally an incredible kiss, before deciding that, yes, they both want to see each other again. Success! Hearts across the nation flutter. It was a salve for Our Times. They are gorgeous. KC keeps his socks on. It is beautiful.

“I hate having cold feet.”

“When the idea [of appearing on Undressed] was first given to me, I was a bit scared and unsure, as I’d never been on TV,” says KC. “But then once you go through the screening process and get to meet the casting crew, you feel more comfortable and relaxed. Also, the fact that you would be in a room with someone who is equally nervous and uncertain really helps!

“For the kissing part, you try your best to not to overthink it,” he continues, “because you’re kissing in front of national TV and thousands of viewers. In the back of your head you keep on thinking that you don’t want to end up on the internet as ‘the most awkward kiss on TV’ and be unkissable for rest of your life. I had an attitude as to ‘go with the flow’ which worked very well for me.”

So Did This Adorable Couple Get Together?

KC: “We did see each other after the show a couple of times and did have chats over the phone. However, things are a bit different when you meet someone in the show and then outside … I think this is what happened between Ellaina and myself. We had a special spark and attraction when we were in front of camera but after it just didn’t happen. Ellaina is a really cool girl and we could definitely hang out with each other casually, but as for love, I don’t think it’s happening.”

So that’s a no. A nation weeps. But as far as experiments go, Undressed still provided a powerful result for KC.

“The main idea I admire about Undressed is that we as human beings have developed a tendency of stereotyping and judging people on the basis of their clothes, watch, shoes and other brands they wear. But when you take two individuals, get them to their undies and [put them together], then lots of stereotyping and judgements are minimised. Then you can truly be yourself.

“As for love, I’ve realised that before you love or commit to someone else, you should have enough understanding and love for yourself. I don’t think it’s a good idea to put yourself out there, when you’re not even certain about your likes, dislikes and what you want in life. Thereby, after Undressed I’m more committed to understand myself better before putting myself out there.”

And what about the socks?

“I do wear socks when I go to sleep because I hate having cold feet, and I chose green colour socks to support environmental causes and raising awareness about global warming issues.”

Your move, ladies.
