Ryan Reynolds Has Released An Oscar Campaign Video For ‘Deadpool’
For Your Consideration.
This year’s Academy Awards shape up as a fairly typical affair, dominated by the usual jumble of Hollywood throwbacks, stately biopics, maudlin family dramas and Martin Scorsese flicks. Not that there’s anything wrong with those movies – far from it. Still, taken together, they can start to feel a little bit…samey.
But there could be a spoiler at the Oscars this year, in the form of a foul-mouthed mercenary in a tight-fitting red suit. Yes, I’m talking about Deadpool, the R-rated superhero movie that blew the nips off critics and moviegoers alike, and is now generating serious awards buzz after scoring a pair of nominations, for Best Actor and Best Musical or Comedy, at last week’s Golden Globes.
While the chances of Deadpool unseating a movie like La La Land do seem rather slim, franchise star Ryan Reynolds remains optimistic. The actor recently shared the following For Your Consideration video on Twitter, and to be honest, I’m pretty much sold.

Reynolds also wrote to voters back in November thanking them in advance for their support. His letter described the movie as “a labor of intense passion and love” with a budget that would “barely cover the cocaine costs of most studio films”.

This year’s Oscar nominations will be announced on January 24, while the ceremony will take place on February 26. We’re rooting for you, Wade.
