This Immense Rage Against The Machine And Run The Jewels Mash-Up Is Here To Change Your Life
Run The Jewels and Rage Against The Machine have been combined into an immense soup of political hip-hop in one of the mash-ups of the year.
Just a few short weeks ago, Run The Jewels released one of the most astonishing albums of 2020.
Full of fire and fury, RTJ4 sees the duo lean into the things that make them special, from complex, layered production to huge, thick choruses.
Of course, the pair have always made political music, both together and apart — Killer Mike’s ‘Reagan’ is a work of thrumming, angry art. But RTJ4 breaks new ground. Every track on the album is more urgent and necessary than the last, a takedown of the entire political system that has dragged us to where we are today.
Inevitably, whenever you make hip hop that political, you get compared to Rage Against The Machine. And that comparison is more apt than usual, given that Rage’s singer Zack de la Rocha actually appears on the record, lending his talents to lead single ‘Just’.
But clearly DJ Skarface, an acclaimed musician and mash-up artist in his own right, has decided that such connections need to be strengthened and drawn out. And so he has created ‘Rage The Jewels’, an almost 15-minute long mash-up of Rage Against The Machine and Run The Jewels that was first shared widely across the net by MusicFeeds.
Basically, it’ll melt your face off. Listen to the whole thing here:
