There’s an old adage in the entertainment industry — never work with children or animals. Well, given an on-set blunder during an ABC News segment yesterday, maybe ‘TV cameras’ should be added to that list as well.

See, partway through journalist Celina Edmonds’ report on the spread of a new strain of the novel coronavirus, a television camera crept into the background all by itself. And it wasn’t done there, either. Slowly twirling back and forth, the heavy, remote-operated piece of machinery showed a panache and flair for the limelight that couldn’t be tamed.

I mean, watch this short clip and tell me that the thing isn’t an absolute natural.

The clip, which has since gone viral on Twitter, is a late entry for one of the news blunders of the year, rivalling only that time a guest on the BBC had her interview interrupted by her vocal daughter and a nice drawing of a unicorn. Here’s to hoping that 2021 brings more wild and wonderful TV moments still.
