Fans Are Calling This Insane Goal One Of The Greatest In A-League History
I could do that if I felt like it.
Whether or not you care about the A-League, or sports in general, you’ve got to admit… this is pretty impressive.
On Friday night, 19-year-old Riley McGree helped send the Newcastle Jets into the A-League Grand Final with a freakish goal that many are calling the greatest in the competition’s history.
The young midfielder from South Australia executed a perfect ‘scorpion kick’ on the run, flicking the ball into the net from the edge of the box with the back of his foot.
Wow, just wow! Bravo, Riley McGree ? #NEWvMCY pic.twitter.com/c5v9aeXXP3

“I did get a bit lucky,” admitted McGree after the match. “I had the momentum going forward, I just happened to swing my leg at it and it went in. Definitely a bit of a fluke I think, but you’ve gotta try it to get it.”
Fans on social media went into a meltdown over the goal, not that you can blame them.
RILEY MCGREE. MY GOD.

Today North and South Korea ended their 53 year war, Abba reformed after 35 years, but a goal from Riley McGree was still the most amazing thing you’ll see or hear. Joyous. #NEWvMCY
