Everyone Loves Kratu, The Chaotic Rescue Dog Who’s Absolutely Rubbish At Dog Shows

"This has to be the first time I've seen a dog take a chunk out of an obstacle," said the announcer.

In this house we love good boys who do bad jobs — as we saw with Ryker, the failed service dog in training.

But here to take Ryker’s crown is Kratu, the Romanian rescue dog who absolutely had zero clue what he was doing at a dog show. While taking the floor at Crufts 2020 — an international dog event held in the UK that tests canine agility, obedience and flyball — Kratu proved he was easily the most chaotic dog in the competition.

Dashing across the course however he damn well pleased, Kratu ran in and out of random tunnels before literally dissembling the course. As his owner, Tessa-Eagle Swan, urged him to jump over a pole, Kratu decided to just take the pole off the stand and run around with it.

Laughing along with the crowd, the announcer simply said: “Well, excuse me. That’s definitely against the rules.”

“This has to be the first time I’ve seen a dog take a chunk out of an obstacle,” said another as Kratu ran off the course and back to the entry point without his owner.

For anyone who’s a huge dog show fan, they’d know that Kratu is a regular at Crufts. But even after three years running on the show, Kratu has still yet to learn how to properly do the course.

Luckily for Kratu, the Carpathian-Mioritic mix, Crufts rescue dogs agility course is essentially free play — in that it’s a display run, that’s not competitive and isn’t timed. But considering that he’s a very good assistance dog off the course, Kratu deserves an absolutely terrible agility course run as a treat.

Sadly, while people look forward to Kratu’s Crufts runs each year, his shitty 2020 attempt will be his last. Kratu’s owner Tessa took to Twitter to announce her pups retirement from the show, sharing that the pair “had the best time” on their last run.
