There Is A Naked Man Running Wild In ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’
Despite conflicting reports, the Feral Man isn't a werewolf as he doesn't transform. He's just a regular naked man who was raised by wolves.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a video game set in the American Old West, where cowboys play loose with rules and morals. One free spirit also plays loose with the concept of shame, wandering the countryside in his altogether while hanging out with wild wolves.
Despite conflicting reports, the Feral Man isn’t a werewolf as he doesn’t transform. He’s just a regular naked man who was raised by wolves. Still, that isn’t something you see every day.
To observe the Feral Man in all his natural glory, head to Roanoke Valley to the north of Annesburg. When you get close you will hear him howling — as expected from a man who appears to have spent his formative years in the company of wild animals. Simply follow the howls to find him.
You can watch him from a distance, but once the Feral Man becomes aware of your presence he’ll run away. Follow him and he’ll lead you back to his cave, located a little further along the Kamassa River. Here you’ll encounter his roommates: Two aggressive Gray Wolves.
The Feral Man will growl at you to leave, but you aren’t playing cowboy outlaw game Red Dead Redemption 2 in order to be a decent human being. Failing to leave immediately will cause the wolves to attack, at which point you will have little choice but to kill them or run away. Unfortunately, killing the Feral Man’s furry companions will cause him to lie on the floor and cry, making you feel like the worst person in the world.
But if you haven’t done enough yet, you can further tear this man’s life apart by heading to the back of the cave and reading his diary. The Wild Man’s Journal can be found resting atop a cow skull outside a small makeshift tent. It documents him resolving to run away as a child, as well as his first month or so as a runaway.
The last entry was written in 1882, 17 years before Red Dead Redemption 2 is set, and recounts the Wild Man meeting a litter of puppies. Presumably the wolves you just killed. You monster.

Once you’re done violating his privacy the Feral Man will attack you with a knife, but he’s easy enough to deal with seeing as though you also have a knife, and guns, and a lasso. A few players have attempted to take the naked man into town and set him loose among the clothed, but it seems it’s impossible to carry a hogtied man in respectable company without getting done for kidnapping.
If you have any mercy in your heart, it’s probably best to leave the Feral Man be. Sometimes, the best we can do for a person is to let them be naked in peace.
