For those who have been patiently holding their breath desperate to know what Rebel Wilson thinks about Sydney going into lockdown, the time is finally here!

Oh, what’s that? No one was waiting to hear the Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect actor’s opinions about coronavirus and lockdown measures because Rebel Wilson isn’t an epidemiologist and doesn’t even live in Australia anymore? Well, unsurprisingly, that hasn’t stopped her from sharing her thoughts.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Wilson has shared her criticism of the current lockdown measures that have been in place for Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast, Wollongong, and Shellharbour since Friday.

Alongside an unrelated selfie showing zero emotion, Wilson wrote: “Sydney WTF!!!”

On the next slide, the actor expressed her concern with panic buying by uploading a photo of empty toiler paper shelves adding that “Mum took this at Woolworths”.

“You can’t keep locking down as a strategy,” Wilson ended her expert critique of Australia’s COVID-19 management with what looked to be a stock image photo of party streamers.

On Sunday, Gladys Berejiklian explained that NSW’s lockdowns had to happen because she had “no other choice” with the Delta variant spreading throughout the community so fast.

“I have never cared about what people think about me but I care about keeping people safe and not putting burdens on them unless we absolutely have to,” the NSW Premier said. “We had no other alternative. That is a decision we take to keep our community safe.”

But everyone’s favourite wannabe epidemiologist didn’t care — even though Rebel Wilson isn’t affected by the lockdowns in any way because she’s currently based in the US while she films her new Netflix film, Senior Year, Wilson’s mother couldn’t find toilet paper and that’s apparently a very big issue.

What’s strange about the whole thing, however, isn’t just the actor’s unnecessary hot takes on lockdown. It’s also the fact that Rebel Wilson suddenly cares about how coronavirus is managed when she literally spent the last year disregarding the health and safety of those around her with all her mid-pandemic jet setting.

Naturally, when Aussies noticed Rebel Wilson criticising our recent lockdowns they went in on the actor.

Much like when David Hughes tried to slam Melbourne’s lockdown after filming The Masked Singer was somehow deemed essential work, people are being vocal about just how fed up they are with the rich and famous trying to offer health advice where it’s not warranted or wanted.

Hell, even resident bad guy Steve Price had some choice words for Rebel Wilson, calling the actress “smug” and “stupid” for her lockdown remarks on The Project last night.

“Not sure smug rock-throwing from LA is the way to go for Rebel. I don’t think she’s done herself favours there, has she? STUPID opinion,” Price said on the show.

“I’m a bit sick of people not taking celebrities’ health advice seriously, to be honest,” Peter Helliar jokingly responded. “Next thing, people will be questioning the science behind some GOOP products.”

Honestly, if Rebel Wilson is that concerned that her mum can’t find any toilet paper in her local Woolies I’m sure she could spare a couple dollars to order a few Who Gives A Crap rolls.

You know, considering the amount of spare cash the actor must have floating about with how many private jets she’s hopped into during this pandemic alone.
