If you’ve ever wanted to volunteer as tribute, you may soon get the chance. A real-life battle royale is currently being planned, taking the last man standing action out of Fortnite and into reality.

As reported by IGN, an anonymous man with way too much money is looking into creating a real-life battle royale, and has put out a call for a “talented gamemaker” to help design the arena. The job is expected to take six weeks at £1500 ($2750) per day, meaning the successful applicant stands to make at least £45,000 ($82,550) in just one and a half months.

Apparently, the mysterious entrepreneur is willing to put some serious cash into this project. The request was posted to luxury website HushHush, which bills itself as “the world’s leading luxury marketplace and VIP concierge service”. Basically, if you’re filthy rich and want something, HushHush will try to get it for you.

This time, a wealthy individual wants to run The Hunger Games.

It’s still very early days, but the current plan is for 100 people to compete in a three-day championship, which takes place on a not yet procured private island. There will be 12 hours of active competition each day, with competitors camping overnight.

Participants won’t be sleeping up trees or painting themselves into riverbeds, though. Camping gear will be provided along with food, so the only thing people will be hunting is each other.

There won’t be any actual, bloody murder either. That would be illegal. Instead, players will be kitted out with Airsoft guns and touch-sensitive body armour, allowing them to shoot each other without causing severe injury. Whether melee weapons will be a factor isn’t yet known.

As with any battle royale, the goal of the game is to be the last man standing. However, as everyone will survive, the winner will be rewarded with more than their mere life. The sole survivor will win a grand prize of £100,000, or around $183,300 at the current conversion rate. That’s nearly enough to buy one-fifth of a house in Sydney.

HushHush will be working with the anonymous man to set up the real-life battle royale, including dealing with player registration when the time comes. “Battle royale games have become incredibly popular over the last few years ago and our customer is a huge fan who wants to make the game a reality in the safest way possible, said HushHush founder Aaron Harpin.

“If the championship is a success this year, it’s something he wants to make an annual event moving forward, which is very exciting!”
