The whole thing is scored to 'Old Town Road' for some reason.

The first Rambo film, First Blood, is a nuanced, melancholy and sparse take on PTSD and the way violence alienates those who partake in it. Literally every other Rambo film is about shooting a big gun and stabbing people with a knife.

Now the franchise is coming to a close with a film no joke called Rambo: Last Blood. And if the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like the new film is going to walk a line inbetween utter chaos and quiet, character study.

Setting John Rambo on a path of redemption and violence armed with nothing but a quiver of exploding arrows, a big old knife, and an actual rake, it has the madness of the later films combined with the weighty tragedy of the first one.

Of particular note, of course, is the trailer’s use of ‘Old Town Road’, the Lil Nas megahit. Looks like the modern world is catching up to John Rambo, even if it’s just in the form of novelty rap songs.

No Australian release date has been locked in yet, but Last Blood is dropping on September 20 stateside, so hopefully we get it around about then.
