Rejoice: ‘Queer Eye’ Season Four Is Coming To Your Screens Very Soon
And season five is already filming.
Here’s some aggressively unsurprising news for you: Queer Eye, one of Netflix’s biggest hits, has been renewed for seasons four and five.
Yep, Netflix isn’t a company to crash their own gravy train, and so they haven’t — the immensely popular reboot of a reasonably dated reality show will be part of your lives for some time to come.
It’s not hard to see why Queer Eye has been quite so successful. Although the show gets a lot of surface level stuff right — the hosts are affable and kind; the “regular folk” chosen for makeovers are depicted as in clear need of help without ever seeming pitiful or looked down upon; episodes are snappy and fast-paced — it’s something about the general ethos of the program that guarantees its longevity.

There’s a lot written these days about art that is “for our time”, as though every movie or TV show has to be about Donald Trump in order to earn its critical plaudits. Queer Eye, by contrast, is a show aggressively not for our time. That the show is paternalistic and ever so slightly cheesy is exactly part of its charm — it’s pure escapism, a throwback to an era of our lives where jobs were stable, the housing market was somewhat crackable, and the planet didn’t seem about to erupt into a literal ball of hellfire and pain.
So yep, you can bet on more Queer Eye until at least the next U.S. Presidential election, meaning you can use it to comiserate when Trump inevitably gets elected again.
The cast of the show have reacted to the news of their renewal as one might expect; with a bunch of pithy well-timed jokes, and some very genuine warmth directed at their fans.
