Meet Rolo, The Dog Who Sprained His Tail In Happiness Because His Family Were All Home
The best part about quarantine is all the animals who love attention.
Rolo is a seven-year-old sausage dog who lives in Essex, UK with his owner Emma Smith and her family.
In the UK, in response to the growing number of coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has issued a stay-at-home order to help slow the spread of the virus.
But before this lockdown measure was put in place, UK citizens had already started implementing self-isolation tactics like working from home where possible. Much to the delight of Rolo the sausage dog, this was the case for the Smith family who decided to quarantine at home for their own safety.
However, after being home for a couple of days, Emma noticed something irregular about her dachshund. On the 19th of March, Emma realised that her normally happy pup had suddenly stopped wagging his tail.
Concerned, Emma took Rolo to the vet who revealed that her puppy had stopped wagging his tail because he “sprained his tail from excessively wagging it.” The vet then prescribed Rolo pain medication and said his tail should be back to full wagging capabilities by the end of the week.
So my dog has been so happy that everyone is home for quarantine, that his tail has stopped working, so we went to the vet and the vet said ‘he had sprained his tail from excessively wagging it’ ??????

Didn’t expect this happen?, for those asking, he is currently on pain relief and the vet said he should be healed within a week, this is him on the 2nd day. He is super happy and there is now movement from side to side but he is struggling to lift it up in the air. pic.twitter.com/dY0o96HOpj

Sharing the heartwarming story on Twitter, Rolo’s vet adventure was liked over a million times and was the much needed injection of happiness people needed during self-isolation.
Talking to Junkee, Emma explained that she was overwhelmed but happy with the amount of attention her tweet received in such a short amount of time.
“I’m overwhelmed but also glad that Rolo has been able to shed some positivity and happiness around the world when currently all news is doom and gloom due to the virus,” Emma shared.
In even more positive news, Rolo is recovering well and is absolutely loving the fact that his family are home now more than normal. He’s also not complaining about all the extra belly rubs he’s getting as a sick pup either.

For everyone invested in Rolo and his recovery, Emma has decided to create an Instagram account where you can stay up-to-date with the daschund’s adventures.
But until he makes a full recovery, Emma has shared an adorable video of what people can look forward to seeing when Rolo regains full control of his tail.
Thanks for everyone’s concern, im sure he will be back wagging like this in no time ? pic.twitter.com/xyt3qR9KjI
