Everybody’s Dunking On The PS5 Logo On Account Of The Fact It Looks Like The Word ‘Piss’
An unfortunate coincidence.
Companies spend many thousands of dollars making sure that their logos only promote good associations. Which is why it’s quite so unfortunate for Sony that the only association people are getting from the newly-unveiled PS5 logo is the word ‘piss’.
Yep, as far as ‘things that you want your logo to remind people of’, a stream of frothy urine is right there at the bottom. But that’s the PR snafu that one of the biggest tech companies in the world has waded right back into the ammonia-scented centre of.
I mean, look at this thing, and tell me that it doesn’t immediately make you think of pee.

I mean, aside from looking like the word for a bodily function, the PS5 logo is just straight up underwhelming. Rather than go for a radical redesign, Sony have decided to just, uh, update the number.
That’s it.
Of course, these choices are always deliberate. From a marketing point of view, Sony are probably trying to go for something dependable and familiar, so as to let consumers know that the new console will have all of the features that they recognise and love.
Still, does feel a bit lazy.
In fact, it feels so phoned-in that the internet has decided to respond the only way that it knows how: with a shedload of memes.

This logo is simply genius. The PS symbolises Play Station. Then the 5 recognises the fact that this is the fifth console. So much to discuss. Happy to answer any questions on this topic. #PS5 #PlayStation

Guess we’ll find out whether the rest of the PS5 is as controversy-generating as its logo when more information drops over the next few months.
