Shane Warne Doesn’t Want To Eat Spiders On The New ‘I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here’ For Some Reason

We're still watching it though, just in case.

There are some promising rumours swimming around that, if confirmed, would spell television history. Cricketing superstar and walking meme Shane Warne might be taking time off from being lovably ridiculous in Australia to go do it over in South Africa for the new season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

His spot on the show wouldn’t come as a surprise. His love of the limelight (including weird commissioned paintings of him hanging out with dead celebrity paintings) is no secret. What also won’t surprise you, if you’re as diligent at following Warney’s every move as we are, is that he fucking hates spiders. According to Daily Mail Australia, he hates them so much he’s included a ‘don’t make me eat spiders’ clause in his contract with the show.

Like I said, if you’re a true abiding Warney disciple, you’ll already unashamedly know of his phobia. “I’m actually not scared of anything. Except spiders. I can’t even get through the movie Arachnophobia, and I have tried four times,” he once said. Fair enough, buddy. Spiders are gross and that movie was pretty scary.

In even more predictable news, he’s also supposedly getting a tonne more money than the other contestants. According to News.com.au — a reputable source on all important matters concerning our national treasure — 3AW Breakfast reporter Peter Ford told his audience this morning that your boy Warney is getting paid close to $2 million to head out to the jungle this Sunday. Most of the other contestants are reportedly only receiving around $60,000 for the six weeks of shooting.

Some might say this remuneration is outrageously high, but when you think about the utterly priceless amounts of premium entertainment Warney continuously provides the public — for free, I might add — he’s probably getting underpaid. Plus, he might need it really soon. That investigation into his possibly dodgy charity does not look great.
