Aside from being an actor, director, screenwriter, and a beautiful, naïve, sophisticated newborn baby, Rashida Jones is occasionally also a singer. It’s often been said she’s inherited her voice and her love of music from her father, iconic R&B musician and producer Quincy Jones, and over the past couple of decades she’s dabbled in a number of collaborations.

Jones has provided guest vocals for multiple releases from Maroon Five and a Tupac Shakur tribute album amongst other works, and at one point even appeared in a music video for Aaliyah with her then-boyfriend Mark Ronson. Now, in collaboration with her nephew Sunny Levine (who is better known as LA producer Boss Selection), she’s channeled some of that ’90s R&B love into a new track ‘Flip and Rewind’.

The song itself dropped a couple of months ago and shocked the whole world with the fact she can really sing, but overnight we got out first look at the music video. Giving specific shoutouts to the work of TLC, Mary J Blige, Boys II Men, Keith Sweat, Brandy, Adina Howard, LL Cool J and Xscape, it’s really something.

Remember when Leslie Knope threw an early-’90s-themed skate party for Ben Wyatt in Parks and Rec and Rashida Jones’ character dressed as Blossom and didn’t seem all that into it? They would both be so, so proud of her now.
