Play School Profiled A Family With Two Dads And The Australian Christian Lobby Is Pissed
Big Ted and his lefty minions strike again.
Earlier this week, Play School ran a short segment in which two sisters spoke about some of their favourite family activities, including swimming, reading stories and doing yoga before bed. It’s roughly as sweet and adorable as it sounds, so naturally the Australian Christian Lobby have completely lost their shit.
You see this particular set of sisters happens to have two Dads, and that’s gotten one of Australia’s most vocal conservative lobby groups in a right old tizzy.
In a statement posted to the ACL website, spokesperson Wendy Francis lambasted the public broadcaster, stating that “as a grandmother I find it disappointing that the ABC is seeking to include rainbow politics for toddlers when millions of their parents do not agree with redefining marriage in law.”
(The Play School segment doesn’t actually mention marriage equality once, but that’s apparently beside the point.)
“Millions of Australians also do not agree that two men should be allowed to deliberately deprive a child of its mother,” said Francis. “Unsupervised watching of Play School was always considered safe by generations of parents. Now parents can’t be sure if their children are going to be exposed to contested social and political agendas.”
“Parents shouldn’t be forced to have adult conversations about sexuality and bioethics with their kids at such a young age and it certainly should not be the government broadcaster raising the subject with them,” Francis continued. “We encourage the Communications Minister, Mitch Fifield, to take these concerns to the ABC so that the integrity of the ABC can be maintained.”
This week on Play School we find out lots of different things about lots of different families. Weekdays at 9.30amhttps://t.co/MActCb6X3w

You can watch the segment in question via iview (skip to the 19 minute mark), although please be warned that you may be condemned to burn in eternal hellfire if you do.
This isn’t the first time Big Ted and his cabal of lefty minions have offended conservatives, with the program coming under fire in 2004 when it featured a girl raised by lesbian parents. Back then it was Prime Minister John Howard who accused the ABC of “running an agenda,” which in a way just goes to show you how far we’ve come. At least now it’s just a fringe special interest group peddling ignorant bile, as opposed to the person in charge of running the country.
