Pink Is Furiously Telling Racists And Conservatives To Fuck Off On Twitter And We Love To See It

"It’s insane to me how many people think I will be upset about racists unfolllowing me. You don’t really even need to announce your exit. You have my blessing. Go. Go now. One quick push of a button and you don’t have to look in the mirror or confront who you really are."

More than ever before, celebrities and musicians are being pushed to use their profile to enact real good in the world — to donate to charity, speak out against structural inequality, and make a real structural difference.

As they should be pushed. A celebrity that doesn’t donate to charitable causes is indistinguishable from a 19th century member of royalty. And remember how things worked out for 19th century royalty?

Now that condemning racists is finally something that celebrities seem into, the last few days have seen social media aflame with online activism, with everyone from Seth Rogan to JJ Abrams condemning police brutality and the social factors that create it.

In the world of music, one performer who has been particularly vocal is Pink. The massive popstar has spent a decent amount of time sparring with conservatives on her Twitter account, taking down anyone who supports the discriminatory policies of Donald Trump.

The whole thing kicked off when she went for Trump himself, quote-tweeting one of his more unhinged, “Law & order” Tweets.

From there, she quote-tweeted almost every conservative who dared to get up in her mentions.

Eventually, Pink even began sparring with another politician. Lauren Boebert, a Republican who is currently running for congress, tried to shame the performer for her “anti-Trump” rhetoric. But instead, Boebert took got a full blast of the musician’s rage.

Of course, we shouldn’t let this be the beginning and the end of Pink’s activism — and it’s worth nothing that people of colour have been doing this for years without thanks or acknowledgement. Every single celebrity needs to do better, divesting resources and sharing their time in the media spotlight with disenfranchised voices. Online activism is just the start. We all need to do a lot more, every single day.

But hey, seeing a musician of Pink’s stature taking time out of her day to embarrass racists and conservatives? Something of a pleasure, to be honest.
