Last week, Phoebe Waller-Bridge won three Emmys, which is a sentence so aesthetically pleasing that it deserves writing just one more time. As in: Last week, Phoebe Waller-Bridge won three Emmys.

Of course, part of what makes Waller-Bridge’s wins so wonderful is the fact that she is the best, and has created one of the best TV shows of the modern era in the form of Fleabag. There aren’t many other series that quite so precisely capture the experience of being young, broke and single, particularly not without falling back onto trite cliches. Which Fleabag doesn’t do for a single second, instead crafting bold new modes of televisual storytelling, and anchoring them to a deeply human protagonist.

But the victories weren’t just deserved; they were genuinely surprising. Fleabag is one of those shows that tends to get lost in awards time. Its pleasures are humble, not flashy, and its real strengths lie in its writing and performances, not the flashier aspects of modern TV.

Well, looks like Waller-Bridge is on as much of a high over the wins as the rest of the world. Ahead of her Saturday Night Live debut this week, the actress, writer and comedian has teamed up with the comedy institution to create a short film, designed in no small part to show off her statuettes.

In it, Waller-Bridge plays a fictionalised version of herself who just won’t put her trophies down, hauling them around the Saturday Night Live offices. In the process, she shows off a somewhat underreported capacity for physical comedy; who knew that the actress could go full Buster Keaton?

Anyway, the whole thing is wonderful, and brilliant, and you should watch it in full below.

Waller-Bridge hosts Saturday Night Live this forthcoming October 5, while ole mate Taylor Swift will be providing the music.
