UK comedians David Mitchell and Robert Webb will star in a new Odd Couple-style sitcom set to air next year. The pair are best known for co-starring in Peep Show as well as their brilliant sketch comedy series That Mitchell and Webb Look. If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favour.

Titled Back, the six-part series will follow Stephen (Mitchell), a divorced underachiever who inherits the family pub after the death of his father, only for his charismatic foster brother Andrew (Webb) to return home with the hope of reconnecting with his adopted family. The series was created by Simon Blackwell, who previously collaborated with Mitchell and Webb on Peep Show, and whose other writing credits include Veep and In The Loop.

“In Simon Blackwell, we’ve found a writer of precisely Simon Blackwell’s talent,” Mitchell told iNews. “His writing is deep, dark, warm and funny – like a hot tub brimming with laughing gravy.”

“That sounds disgusting,” added Webb.

Back will air in the UK in 2017.
