Pauline Hanson has delivered yet another racist attack against Mehreen Faruqi during a motion to censure the controversial Queensland Senator.

Hanson told Faruqi to “piss off back Pakistan” after the Greens Senator brought up the late Queen’s connection to colonialism in a social media post. Seeking to resolve the issue, the Greens moved to officially censure Hanson’s comments in parliament on Tuesday.

However, a majority vote delivered by Labor and the Coalition amended the censure motion, opting to remove Hanson’s comments from the public record and issue a general reminder about maintaining respectful debate.

In a speech addressing the motion, Hanson furiously refused to retract her comments, claiming she had been “insulted” and “embarrassed”.

Politicians seated in parliament erupted in outrage after the One Nation Senator then offered to “drive [Faruqi] to the airport”, prompting Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John to call Hanson an “absolute scumbag” from across the floor.

“I can’t tell you how many hundreds of times I’ve been told to go back to where I come from,” Faruqi wrote in an op-ed responding to Hanson’s original comments.

“Unfortunately it’s all too common that any contribution I make on important public debates … is met with attacks, not on my ideas, but on who I am.”

Hanson’s comments are due to be officially referred to the Australian Human Rights Commission by Faruqi, on the basis of creating a hostile and unsafe workplace.
