The first official trailer for the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side has arrived, and it looks fairly amazing.

The film previously screened at Toronto International Film Festival and SXSW, with a theatre release coming September 26 – no word on a local date yet.

Written and directed by Academy Award winner John Ridley (12 Years A Slave), the film is set for the most part in London during ’66-’67 , which means amazing fashion, beautiful architecture, and possible appearances by the numerous musicians hanging around London during this fertile period: The Beatles, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Who, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, The Stones (we already know Keith Richards appears, as played by British actor Ashley Charles) – the list goes on.

For his part, André 3000 makes an uncanny Hendrix, and even the trailer betrays the hours he must have spent studying Hendrix’ guitar technique. Here’s hoping for an Almost Famous-esque experience.
