Lagavulin whisky has had it pretty easy over the past six years as Ron Swanson sold their product for them. Though imbued with a deliberate absurdity, the iconic character from Parks and Recreation freely declared that “clear alcohols are for rich women on diets”, whisky was one of the few things a person needed in this world, and a neat Lagavluin was the best of its kind.

Admittedly, the brand suffered some setbacks from the other characters’ experiences with it.

“HEY-AH HMM-EH.”

Since the show finished up in February, the Scottish distillery has tried its best to keep this good thing going. They hired comedian Nick Offerman for a series of web shorts based on his on-screen persona. Here, he’s played an acoustic pub song about whisky, read poetry with the guys from the distillery, and gone on big missions to tell off shitty bartenders. But, with the magic of the Parks and Rec writing team replaced by a bunch of ad execs and the character being stripped of the show’s broader context, they’ve all been pretty unremarkable.

Today that’s all changed. Lagavulin has now released a clip of Offerman sitting in front of a roaring fire drinking whisky in silence and staring calmly into the camera. It goes for 45 minutes and it is completely perfect.

As one YouTuber said in the comments, “My dream of sharing a drink with Ron Swanson is no longer just a dream”.
