With the Oscar nominations rolling out early this morning, the internet’s abuzz with talk about snubs, flubs and predictions on what films will sweep this year’s awards.

There’s also a hell of a lot of wholesome celebratory reactions from nominees, which are so nourishingly earnest they’ll make your heart swell with more emotion than Lady Gaga had when she found that 1 person in the room.

Alfonso Cuarón’s Netflix film Roma and Yorgos Lanthimos’ wicked sapphic period piece The Favourite tied for most nominations at 10, and suitably, the casts are celebrating.

Nominated for best leading actress, Roma‘s Yaliza Martínez cried in front of her laptop, while Emma Stone made a statement saying how proud she was to be nominated, in a rare feat for a film, alongside her The Favourite co-stars, Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weisz.

Elsewhere, Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o posted a quick thanks for the film’s seven nominations, which includes Best Picture — a first for a superhero film. She posted a throwback video of the first time the cast saw footage from the film, saying “we’re feeling this way all over again today!” The film’s costume designer Ruth E Carter also celebrated their Best Costume nomination, posting a video on Twitter where she called today “the best day of her life”.

Barry Jenkins, director of If Beale Street Could Talk, threw accolades away from himself to instead thank fellow Best Director nominee Spike Lee, calling him the “biggest GOAT”, as well as the film’s nominated Supporting Actress Regina King and composer Nicholas Brittell.

Spike Lee also posted a video of his live reaction to BlacKKKlansman being nominated for six awards, screaming with joy.

Surprisingly, Lady Gaga hasn’t made a post yet about her Best Actress nomination for A Star Is Born, but she did talk to The New York Times. Gaga told them she slept through the announcement, but burst into tears as soon as she was told of her nomination.

Her collaborator and jazz legend Tony Bennett has congratulated her by says, “I always knew you could do anything at the highest level of artistry.” ‘Shallow’ co-writer Mark Ronson has also celebrated his Best Song nomination on Twitter.

Gaga’s main Best Actress competitor Glenn Close has expressed gratitude for her Best Actress nomination for playing the wife in The Wife, saying she sends “love to all”.

The 91st Academy Awards will be held Sunday 24 February in Los Angeles.
