Word has it that OJ Simpson — yes, that OJ Simpson — is presently trolling people on TikTok. Or at least, he could be. Let’s investigate, shall we?

By way of a refresher: Simpson was acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson in 1995, and the spectacle that was the 11-month televised trial cemented Simpson in public media history. It’s didn’t just make OJ famous , but also laid the groundwork for the Kardashian empire as we know it as Simpson’s lawyer Robert Kardashian became a household name.

Fast forward 28 years, and it seems controversial figure has gone from trial to TikTok, and it’s all very sobering to witness.

Over the weekend, a TikTok went viral of a young woman introducing her “conspiracy” theories associated with the trial. However, before she can really get going, Simpson interrupts with TikTok’s stitch function, which lets users to incorporate clips of other user’s videos into their own as a form of response.

“This is basically a little series on whether OJ Simpson really did it or not,” the first user says before OJ appears to respond:

“Who knows? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.” Huh.

At the time of writing the TikTok has over 4.1 million views. The account it’s posted from appears, at first glance, to be OJ’s account, though it is not verified. The username, @looseyjuicyyy, alludes to the ex-players’ iconic on-field nickname “The Juice.”

The account also features other videos of OJ where he’s golfing, exercising at home, and allegedly responding to comments left on his TikToks. In one, a user asks Simpson for his thoughts on the Jeffrey Dahmer case, to which he says that he’s not qualified to say.

So, is OJ Simpson really trolling true crime theorists on TikTok? Like so many things in Simpson’s life, it is hard to say for sure. It is quite possible that someone is doing a very convincing deepfake, or that they are clipping recent videos of OJ posted elsewhere out of context. What can I say… AI’s given me trust me issues.

Simpson has no verified account on TikTok, but there are three that claim to be, “me, yours truly.” The account this video was posted on has the most followers and claims to be “the only official” one. But again, we’ve no official verification from TikTok.

Is Simpson truly trolling people on TikTok over his controversial crimes? Or is someone manipulating footage of him to do so? Both are deeply disturbing propositions to consider.
