Our assignments are starting to pile up quicker than our Netflix to-watch list. Well, nearly as fast anyway.

And because we hate ourselves, and are incapable of planning ahead, we’ll probably leaving them all to the last minute. Without further ado, there’s no TV show that sums up our assignment struggles better than The Office.

#1 Going About Your Day And Suddenly Remembering Your Assignment Is Due

Meredith coming out of nowhere just as Michael says “I feel blessed”, is the perfect metaphor for those assignments we forgot about. Ignorance sure is bliss. She’s also the perfect metaphor for the state in which our grades will be in soon. Hurt and probably riddled with rabies.

#2 But Then Putting It Off For As Long As Humanly Possible

No, you’re not going to get started straight away. You have other (ahem) more important things to do, like looking at turtles on the internet until your brain fries. It’s all about getting your priorities in order.

#3 Knowing You Absolutely Have To Get A Start Tomorrow

You’ve left it way too long. It’s officially time for you to actually look at the essay question and get started. Hell, you’re not even familiar with the course material yet. Time to fire up those online lectures.

#4 When You Thought It’d Be A Good Idea To Catch Up On Recorded Lectures But You Have No Idea What’s Going On

You’ve missed a few* (at least five) lectures here or there, so sliding into Week 8 and expecting to pick up on what’s going on was a long shot. It may as well be in a different language.

#5 Staring At The Blank Word Doc Before You Get Started

You know you’ll get the hang of it as soon as you start typing. Yet here you are, sitting still and internally combusting.

#6 Three Hours Into An Essay That’ll Take You Another 10

What time is it? Where am I? Have I ever felt enjoyment or love? What’s the sun? How does it feel on your skin? I’m a recluse now. Goodbye to everyone who has ever loved me.

#7 It Truly Feels Like It Will Never End

Yes, we know there’s probably worse things than being stuck in the library trying to complete an assignment. But as Andy points out, it’s all about perspective, and to us: this is the worst thing in the world.
