They gave each other hickeys for the occasion.

Reunion tours, they’re all the rage. That’s what happens when a new generation of people start taking charge of things; they just wanna relive all the stuff they missed when they were dorky kids. Thankfully, though, we no longer have to endure an endless stream of Beach Boys and Billy Joel tours (well actually, yes we do); we’re also getting some timelier (you know, the ’90s) icons added to the mix too.

Earlier today, The Breeders – the grunge-era band led by Kim Deal of The Pixies and her sister Kelley – announced details for their upcoming Australian tour. They’ll be performing sideshows throughout the country in October, as well as a headline slot at the ATP ‘Release The Bats’ festival in Melbourne (with other legendary bands like Television and The Jesus Lizard), where they’ll be playing their iconic album Last Splash (currently celebrating its 20-year anniversary) in its entirety.

To celebrate the news, here’s a video we just found of the band performing (in our humble opinion) their greatest song ‘Divine Hammer’ on Conan O’Brien’s late show way back in 1993. They even hang around for a chat afterwards, alongside actor Gabriel Byrne and a super young Gaby Hoffman (that awesome actress from 200 Cigarettes).

Ah, nostalgia. Sure, it’s lame, but it’s also awesome.
