Watch Nick Offerman Cry And Beg For His Mother While Eating Super Spicy Wings
Towards the end of the interview, Offerman begins to see through time.
For many years now, the key to the comedy career of Nick Offerman has been how well put together he is.
Just think about his finest creation, Ron Swanson. Ron never met a challenge that he couldn’t overcome. And not just overcome — but overcome with a certain unflappable American style. He’s a redwood tree that can withstand blows from any kind of an axe; a sheer cliff face that can be eroded by no natural forces.
So for that exact reason, it’s pretty fun to see Offerman lose his entire mind while eating hot wings.
See, Offerman was the latest guest on YouTube talkshow Hot Ones, a weekly program that sets high-profile guests up against an array of increasingly spicy chicken wings. Everyone from Paul Rudd to Cara Delevingne has braved the wings, and each of them has been served a terrible, spicy reckoning. You haven’t lived till you’ve seen the quiet and kind Paul Rudd leak snot out of every inch of his face, or the expertly media-trained Delevingne go spiritually cross-eyed.
Offerman, to his great credit, proves pretty steadfast for most of the show. He answers the questions gracefully and with aplomb, and seems to genuinely enjoy being in the presence of an interviewer as skilled as Hot Ones‘ Sean Evans. But before long, the Scovilles start getting to him, and Offerman eventually begins to sob, beg for his mother, and generally look like the kind of man who has lost his very tentative grip on life.
Still, as is the key to Hot Ones, it’s when a guest becomes most unravelled that they start speaking their most necessary truths. Through tears, blinking back a tidal wave of spicy reflux, Offerman unloads on everything from his upbringing to his politics to his greatest defeats.
Basically, the whole thing deserves to be watched here:
