After literally years of waiting, we’re just a few short months away from the return of Twin Peaks. New episodes of the cult series will hit Showtime starting May 21, and will be available same day on Stan here in Australia. Showtime President David Nevins recently described the revival as “the pure heroin version of David Lynch”. I have never wanted heroin so badly in my life.

On the back of those comments, Showtime has just dropped a brand new teaser trailer – emphasis on the word “teaser”. The 30-second clip offers viewers a couple of eerie nature shots, before Kyle MacLachlan’s character, FBI Agent Dale Cooper, steps out of the shadows. It finishes with an image of the iconic Welcome to Twin Peaks sign and two words: “The Return”.

Look, it’s not much to go on, but at least it’s better than watching David Lynch gaze off into the distance while eating a doughnut. And I’ll be damned if I didn’t get chills hearing that music again.
