‘The New Mutants’ Is Marvel’s First Horror Movie, And The Trailer Is Terrifying
Superhero slasher? Count us in.
The New Mutants has a very simple premise: what if you took a bunch of superheroes, and chucked them in a good old fashioned haunted house?
Yep, the forthcoming Marvel adventure is less about fighting skyscraper tall creatures or invading aliens, and more about things that go bump in the night.
Centring on a young mutant who finds herself at a halfway home for struggling superheroes after the tragic death of her father, it’s a classic horror set-up given a comic book spin. Of course, nothing is as it seems, and those who claim to be protecting our young hero have far from her best interests at heart.
So, expect jump scares, slow walks down long corridors, and a series of extremely creepy faces bursting themselves through a goddamn wall.
The cast is to die for too. Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones fame plays a young superhero struggling with her destiny, while Anya Taylor-Joy — best known for her unbelievable turn in The Witch — is a blonde-bobbed unknowable.
The New Mutants was originally meant to come out a whole two years ago, before reshoots and studio wheelings and dealings stalled things. But it’s finally only a few months away, with the film dropping on April 3, 2020.
Get excited.
