January is an exhausting month ya gotta spend readjusting to work and committing (for at least a day or two) to your resolutions, which means you have a good excuse to kick back, open Netflix and spend February streaming some great #content. Hey, nobody said you had to keep up that “new year, new me” energy for more than a month, did they?

Better still, February is absolutely bursting with streaming surprises spread across the major platforms, which means you have absolutely no reason to go out into the harsh, blinding light of the real world to interact with friends. Instead, you can stay curled up on the comfort of your couch and spend your time interacting with the imaginary friends that live inside your television.

To enable you in the goal of abandoning all human contact, here’s our list of everything coming to Netflix, Stan, Foxtel, SBS On Demand, and all your favourite streaming services in February 2019.

The Shallows

The Shallows drops on Netflix this February

Blake Lively is having a bit of a moment as of late, thanks to her alternately manicured and menacing performance in Paul Feig’s neo-noir comedy A Simple Favour.

But us real Lively fans have known how much the actress has to offer ever since she appeared in The Shallows, a commercial megahit about a young surfer (Lively) who finds herself at the mercy of a giant, extremely hungry great white shark.

Sure, it’s not Shakespeare, but who gives a damn?

Where you can watch it: Netflix.

When you can watch it: February 28.

Lorena

'Lorena' is dropping in February on Amazon

In 1993, Lorena Bobbitt’s name was on everybody’s lips. But not for the reason that you might expect. No, Bobbitt’s path to international stardom involved cutting off her husband’s penis at the base, and hurling it into the middle of a field.

Now, Bobbitt’s story is being detailed in a four-part docuseries simply called Lorena. Executive produced by Jordan Peele of Get Out and Key And Peele fame, the series will examine the truth behind the headlines, and help shed light on one of the world’s most unfairly maligned victims.

Where you can watch it: Amazon Prime.

When you can watch it: February 15.

Miracle Workers

Watched so much of The Good Place that you’ve now got an insatiable appetite for existential workplace comedies? Well, Stan have got your back: they’ll be dropping weekly episodes of Miracle Workers, a new TV series from the creator of Man Seeking Woman.

Miracle Workers follows the story of Craig (Daniel Radcliffe), a young employee in heaven, who must fight to save the Earth after his boss, God (Steve Buscemi) checks out on that whole looking after the human race thing.

Early trailers make the show look extraordinarily silly — which is not a criticism, for the record.

Where you can watch it: Stan.

When you can watch it: February 13.

The Umbrella Academy

Gerard Way is best known as the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, the hyperactive, Queen-inspired emo band of your dreams. But he’s also a graphic novelist: his series The Umbrella Academy is an edgy contemporary classic, the story of 43 infants miraculously virgin born to unsuspecting mothers.

Now, The Umbrella Academy has been given the Netflix treatment: developed for television by Steve Blackman of Fargo fame, and starring Ellen Page, the show looks like a surrealistic dream.

Where you can watch it: Netflix.

When you can watch it: February 15.

The Walking Dead

The 'Walking Dead' returns to Foxtel in February

Over its nine years on the air, The Walking Dead has transformed from a straightforward story about the apocalypse to a multi-layered, surprisingly complicated soap opera. It’s a mess of intersecting histories and motivations, the kind of show that newcomers can get utterly lost in.

Or at least, that’s how it has been up till now. Who knows what will happen to The Walking Dead when the second half of season nine drops in February; with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) out of the picture, the show has the potential to totally upend the script. We’re excited to see how it all pans out.

Where you can watch it: Foxtel Now.

When you can watch it: February 11.

Velvet Buzzsaw

'Velvet Buzzsaw' is a Netflix original film dropping in February

Listen, we’ve already tried to sell you on Velvet Buzzsaw. Not that we really need to. The film’s plot speaks for itself: it’s a horror flick about a series of haunted paintings that come to life, hellbent on murdering rich and pretentious art collectors.

Jake Gyllenhaal is in it, Toni Collette is in it, and so are an entire painting’s-worth of evil monkeys. I don’t know what else I have to tell you to get you to watch this film.

Where you can watch it: Netflix.

When you can watch it: February 1.
