Netflix Is Finally Letting You Download Shows So You Can Binge While Offline
Huge news.
Say goodbye to the days of patchy wi-fi coverage interrupting your marathon of Orange is the New Black. After much clamouring from subscribers, Netflix have announced a download feature that will let you keep watching even when you’re not connected to the internet.
Rolling out on mobile phones and tablets, the download function will mean that you can save shows to watch later, on train trips or long flights or while burrowing deep into the earth’s crust, for example. Not everything on the streaming service can be downloaded just yet, although Narcos, The Crown and both the new and old seasons of Gilmore Girls should keep you occupied while they add more titles.
“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their Stranger Things binge while on airplanes and other places where Internet is expensive or limited,” reads the announcement on the Netflix blog. “Just click the download button on the details page for a film or TV series and you can watch it later without an internet connection.”
