Neil Patrick Harris Is Getting Drunk And Live-Tweeting The Grammys For You

"Madonna is losing the Running of the Bulls. Oh wait, here comes a gospel choir. She's good. Oh, no. She's dead. She lost."

As an actor, musical talent and one half of the cutest couple on the internet, Neil Patrick Harris has had a lot on his plate recently.

Though the final of How I Met Your Mother last year signalled the end of his most enduring and arguably most popular character Barney Stinson, he’s since performed the lead in the much-loved stage show Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, gone full frontal alongside Ben Affleck in one of the year’s biggest films, scooped a few awards including a Tony, and been enlisted as the new host of the Oscars ceremony later this month.

But now, since Hedwig lost the category of Best Musical Theatre Album at the pre-ceremony awards presentation this morning, NPH is kicking back and extending his hosting duties to the Grammys.

It’s pretty damn great.

Assuming you’re either at work or without a subscription to Foxtel — what are you MADE of money? — chances are that you haven’t had a chance to see all the glory of the ceremony so far. But frankly, NPH’s increasingly bizarre tweets are the best way to vicariously experience this whole thing anyway.

First, he kicked things off with the opening act.

Incidentally, Jamie Foxx’s daughter had similar feels.

And the band themselves even had some trouble.

Then things got hella confusing when T-Swift took the stage.

Like, seriously. If he wasn’t so freaking loveable, that tweet would be concerning.

On that note, this also happened.

And this.

In fact, all of these are better if you avoid getting any context.

Don’t pretend you care about the awards themselves. This is a ceremony where Tenacious D took out Best Metal Performance and the majority of last years’ buzz revolved around a giant hat. There’s an ongoing debate that argues the awards themselves mean practically nothing.

Because of this, we present to you some NPH dad jokes that make the whole thing worthwhile.

You can follow the rest of his very important coverage over here.
