It’s one of hundreds of posts on Instagram account The Naked Farmer, an initiative that hopes to raise funds and awareness for rural mental health issues.
The account, run by St Helens Plains farmer Ben Brooksby, has been showing off naked farmers since last year.
“So here I was on the tractor on a nice autumn day, sowing lentils for our next harvest, while creating an Instagram account,” Brooksby writes on his website, explaining how the whole thing started out. “[The post] went viral and within 7 days I had 1000 followers and I knew I’d struck a chord with the wider community.”
“Having experienced anxiety as a teenager while living through 10 years of drought on the farm, I had to leave my issues behind fairly quickly after our family home was burnt to the ground in 2015.”
Farmers across regional NSW are experiencing one of the worst droughts in decades. Over the weekend, PM Malcolm Turnbull announced that an extra $190 million would be put towards farming families assistance and mental health support.
Beginning last month, The Naked Farmer went on a tour of Aussie farms to find material for some calendars they want to sell.

It isn’t the only charity initiative to increase its status in the wake of the devastating drought. The Australian Hotels Association has called on pubs across the country to join the Parma for a Farmer campaign, where they donate some money from every parma sold.
