Every few weeks a TikTok trend pops up that is so unexplainably dumb and hilarious.

Like people ranking the different ways that Jason Derulo says his name, the ‘My Way Or The Highway’ trend is just something that needs to be seen to be understood.

What Is The ‘My Way Or The Highway’ Trend?

The ‘My Way Or The Highway’ trend started with the combination of two iconic audio tracks — a snippet from the rapper Trina’s infamous rant on Instagram Live from 2017 and the song “My Way” by Queen Key.

Trina’s line “If you call me a bitch, make sure you put baddest in front of it” kicked off the trend, with people reciting it in front of their parents or other authority figures, and then walking away in hopes of grabbing their shocked reactions.

But the first ‘My Way Or The Highway’ video actually started with @jerryyy.jones, who used the audio to reenact the feeling of superiority people get after placing first in Kahoot, a math-based game used in schools.

From here, the trend quickly snowballed and morphed, with people ditching the audio all together. Instead, people have begun to sing their own versions of the “My Way” lyrics after changing Trina’s original rant about being a bitch to literally anything else to suit their idea.

For example, theatre kids doing the most by belting out their own extra renditions of “My Way” or people making fun of their anxiety and dyslexia.

The trend, however, reached its peaked when people on TikTok started to use the format to imitate their favourite characters. From Donnie Thornberry’s absolute gibberish to SpongeBob’s iconic giggle, and even spot-on predictions into what Elon Musk and Grimes’ son X Æ A-12 would sound like in the future. Iconic.
