If you’ve used Instagram lately, you’d know that its an absolute maze to find the content you actually want to see, from the accounts you actually follow on the website.

Gone are the days of chronological order and the Valencia filter. Now, the platform seems to be deploying new algorithms every week to serve you content they think you’ll like, rather than just showing you the stuff you voluntarily signed up to see.

Instagram users have been quick to complain about the suggested posts feature, with some claiming it has ruined the app entirely.

The main complaint with suggested posts is that the content seems randomised and is usually completely irrelevant to the user. For some, this means their timeline is filled with random lifehack videos that are totally useless, but for others this can result in triggering content appearing without warning.

But imagine if there was a way to remove all of the suggested posts from your feed? Well it turns out there is, and it’s easier than you think.

How To Turn Off Suggested Posts On Instagram

Sadly, you can’t permanently remove suggested posts on Instagram, but you can snooze them for 30 days at a time — which is better than nothing.

To do this, simply wait until you find the next suggested post in your feed (which shouldn’t be hard to find considering they seemingly pop up every third post) and click the three dots in the top right corner.

From there, select “not interested”, this will hide the post in question and give you a number of options including muting the specific account, muting content related to the account, or snoozing suggested posts altogether.

Now, you have 30 whole days of freedom from suggested posts!

Unfortunately, this doesn’t remove sponsored posts, so you’ll still be tempted to buy a million things you don’t need, but it is better than nothing.
