A group of men — possibly in the service of Loki or Thanos — have stolen a whiskey decanter shaped like Thor’s hammer from Mjolner, a viking themed bar and restaurant in Melbourne.

According to a post on the venue’s Facebook page, the alleged theft took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, after two men who had been drinking there earlier in the night returned with three friends.

“For any hero out there that aids us in the return of Mjolner a reward ye shall receive,” the post promises.

Speaking to Junkee, Sven Almenning, whose Speakeasy Group owns Mjolner, said the alleged theft appears to have been “planned”, with the men working together to steal the decanter without bar staff noticing.

“It’s a shame people do this,” said Almenning. “We’ve had a lot of things get stolen over the years.”

“They take something they love about the venue home, therefore depriving others”.

The owners have reported the incident to police, and also shared images of the alleged culprits that were captured on the venue’s CCTV.

The decanter, which weighs around eight kilograms, is one of two that was custom-built by Sam Bloomfield, who previously made weapons for the Lord of the Rings films. The second one is located at Mjolner’s Sydney location. It was stolen in 2017, but eventually recovered.
