Miss Blanks had a big 2018, but she’s just getting started.

She may have only released two singles last year — ‘Good Good D’ and hype-athem ‘This Bitch’ — but the Brisbane rapper was everywhere, supporting the likes of Channel Tres, Little Simz and playing every other festival, from Splendour In The Grass to Laneway.

Then there was those three weeks where it felt like Charli XCX and Banoffee took over Australia’s East Coast with a series of small and sweaty club nights, with Miss Blanks coming along for the ride — and shutting down a guest verse on ‘I Got It’, too.

Now, the Brisbane rapper has just released ‘Tommy’, her first independent single. Produced by Alice Ivy — who Blanks is about to go on tour with — the song’s the latest in a series of Miss Blanks’ established catalogue of energetic, killer tracks about letting it be known that you’re better than the trade you’re seeing .

To celebrate, we jumped on our phone to text Miss Blanks about ‘Tommy’, fuccbois, touring with Charli XCX and anything else that was on her mind — from the Australian music industry to Co-Star’s intense astrology readings and how Vince Staples is watching her Instagram stories religiously.

Miss Blanks’ ‘Tommy’ is out now. Catch her supporting Alice Ivy on a national tour this May and June.
