If you want to strip it back to the bare facts, Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea already have a bunch in common.

They’re both young white girls who peddle in shock culture, provoke a slew of hand-wringing op-eds and Tweets, and often appear to be trolling for clicks.

There’s the highly sexualised antics, epitomised through 22-year-old Australian Iggy Azalea’s first viral clip ‘PU$$Y‘, and the 20-year-old ex-Disney star Miley’s recent whatever-it-was at the MTV VMAs.

There’s the way both artists experiment — and sometimes collide — with black hip hop culture, most problematically without paying dues to its heritage: Iggy Azalea has been charged with minstrelism; Miley Cyrus has been charged with the same.

Iggy has a song called ‘Work’ and Miley has a song called ‘Twerk’ — so, you know, RHYMING.

And sometimes, they both even wear the same thing:

iggy

And sometimes, they both wear nothing at all.

This morning is one of those times.

Two new clips surfaced overnight, one from each artist. The first is for Iggy Azalea’s radio-ready collab with T.I., ‘Change Your Life’ — the third single off her forthcoming debut album, The New Classic. It’s a pretty mainstream hip hop clip for Iggy, with enough nipple, exotic animals and sparkly sheer lingerie to make a ‘Toxic’ and ‘Slave’-era Britney proud.

The second — for Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ — dropped just nine hours ago, perhaps to distract us all from the other clip that surfaced overnight of her performing with a band of little people on a German talk show for some reason.

‘Wrecking Ball’ — which has already clocked up a casual five million hits, compared to Iggy’s 340,000 — is a lot more explicit, a heap more nude, and involves her making out with a mallet because of emotions, probably. It’s the second track off her forthcoming Bangerz LP.
